USDT to GBP
Convert USDT to GBP into your company's own account
Sentvia converts USDT to pounds sterling and pays them over Faster Payments into an account in your company's own name. You agree the rate before you send, we screen the incoming USDT, and the sterling arrives as an ordinary bank transfer that reconciles to your invoice.

Who it's for
Businesses that are paid in stablecoins and invoice or settle in sterling:
- Exporters and trading companies with sterling-denominated contracts
- Suppliers whose customers hold USDT but whose invoices are in GBP
- FX and CFD providers that settle client funds in sterling
- Professional firms, such as law firms, billing international clients in pounds
How it works
- Request a quote. Tell us the amount of USDT you're converting to GBP.
- Lock the rate. Approve the quote; that's the rate you settle at.
- Send the USDT to the address we give you for that conversion. We screen it on arrival.
- Receive sterling over Faster Payments into your company's named account.
For large single conversions, use our Prime OTC desk.
What you receive the sterling into
The pounds are paid into a named account in your company's own legal name, provided through regulated banking partners, wherever the company is incorporated. Hold the GBP, pay it on to approved beneficiaries, or keep it alongside USD, EUR and AED in multi-currency accounts.
Settlement timing by stage
| Stage | What sets the timing |
|---|---|
| USDT transfer | The blockchain network; usually minutes |
| Screening and conversion | Our checks on the incoming USDT, then execution at the rate you locked |
| GBP payout | Faster Payments runs around the clock; the receiving bank's own limits can mean a large payment is split |
Once a payment is on Faster Payments it moves quickly, so what sets the timing is mostly everything before it. Processing times depend on currency, jurisdiction and bank rails used.
Before you send
- Check the quote shows the sterling amount you expect to receive, not just the rate.
- Send only to the address we give you for that conversion, and only the amount quoted.
- Put the invoice number in the payment details, so the sterling reconciles to it on arrival.
- For a very large amount, ask us about the receiving bank's limits before you send.
Keeping your bank comfortable
Banks ask more questions about crypto-linked payments than about ordinary ones. What answers them is a clear trail: sterling arriving from a regulated provider, into an account in your company's name, with a reference that matches an invoice and a conversion record behind it. Our article on whether your bank will close your account goes through it.
What we'll ask for at onboarding
- Your certificate of incorporation
- Who owns and controls the company
- What the business does and why it receives stablecoins
- Who sends the funds and where they came from
Compliance on every conversion
- Screening. Every incoming USDT payment is screened before it is converted, including where the USDT came from before it reached us.
- Source of funds. For larger payments we may ask how the payer came to hold the USDT. Our guide to source of funds for stablecoin payments sets out what answers the question.
- Beneficiaries. Onward payments to third parties go only to approved beneficiaries, each reviewed by our compliance team.
Sentvia is regulated by the Bank of Canada under the Retail Payment Activities Act and registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business. Our compliance and regulation page explains both registrations and how to check them.

FAQ
Common questions
- Can we convert USDC to GBP too?
- Yes. USDC converts to sterling on the same terms as USDT.
- How long does it take?
- The stablecoin transfer takes minutes. Faster Payments itself runs around the clock, but the payment is screened and the conversion quoted and locked before the sterling leg begins. Processing times depend on currency, jurisdiction and bank rails used.
- Does our company need to be based in the UK?
- No. The sterling account is in your company’s own name wherever the company is incorporated, subject to onboarding.
- Why don't you publish a rate?
- Each conversion is quoted and locked individually, so a published number would be out of date before you used it.
- Will our bank see a crypto transaction?
- No. The sterling arrives as a Faster Payments transfer from a regulated provider into an account in your own name. If your bank asks, the conversion record sits behind the payment.
- What about large amounts?
- Large conversions go through our Prime OTC desk, quoted and locked as a single trade.
